SAPD video shows 2 men gunning down man outside barbecue joint

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department is asking for the public's help following a fatal shooting outside of Big Cassel's Smokehouse on I-10 East around 3:30 a.m. Sep. 8.

Herion Chase, 44, was pronounced dead outside of the Northeast Side restaurant, near I-10 and Dietrich, after suffering a gunshot wound to his chest.

SAPD released video Thursday on Facebook that shows two people standing near what appears to be a light-colored, four-door car before the one on the driver's side fired off numerous shots.

Police are hoping someone will recognize the vehicle or the people seen on the video and contact detectives with what they know.

A second man, who SAPD spokeswoman Jennifer Rodriguez described as an "innocent bystander," was also wounded by gunfire, which she said was aimed at Chase.

"There was some type of altercation between the victim and those suspects. It's unclear what was the disagreement or the altercation and then shots were fired shortly after," she said.

It was a hard video for Chase's sister, Ebony Davis, to watch.

"I feel like they just killed him like a dog," she said after seeing it for the first time. "No respect, no nothing for life."

Davis said her brother's slaying has broken their family, and they hope someone will come forward with information.

"All we want is for that video right there - and what I just seen that broke my heart - for those young men to go to jail, so my brother and my mother can get justice," she said.

If you recognize the two people or the vehicle, or have any information, please call homicide detectives at 210-207-7635.
