ENCHANTED ROCK

The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area will be closed for several days this fall and winter to allow hunters to use the property.

The massive Big Sky Fire is burning 1,400 acres north of Fredericksburg and has temporarily closed Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area and Pedernales Falls State Park are closed on Wednesday due to two wildfires in the Hill Country.

Park rangers at the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area are asking all visitors to plan ahead as there will not be water available on the grounds through June.

Enchanted Rock announced it will be closed for the day on its Facebook account on Friday. The park wrote the ice accumulations made conditions at the park hazardous for visitors. CPS Energy also told MySA.com it has not closed its San Antonio lakes, Calaveras Lake and Victor Braunig Lake, but will let the public know if it does. Parks include Confluence Park, portions of the Mission Reach section of the San Antonio River Walk, River Crossing Park, and Roosevelt Park. "We advise you to be very cautious when using all parks and trails this weekend," the river authority stated in its post.

SAN ANTONIO – While it looks like a winter wonderland, the staff at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area say it is “dangerous” to visit the park during icy conditions that are hitting Central and South Texas this week. Staff said that the weather has knocked out power to the park, therefore the phone lines are down.
