UIW offers option for former ITT Tech students

ITT Technical Institute closed campuses earlier this month

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word is offering help to former ITT Technical Institute students who want to finish their education.

ITT Tech closed its campuses earlier this month, leaving students in the lurch.

UIW is offering a specialized program that aims to help grow the amount of tech jobs San Antonio can offer.

"San Antonio is Cyber City USA, and having students that are qualified in computer information and cyber security systems is paramount to this city," Phil Youngblood of UIW Computer Information Systems said.

Students wanting to transfer to the UIW program from ITT will be required to demonstrate their proficiency before being issued credits for advanced courses.

In addition to finding a comparable program, the U.S. Secretary of Education has offered students a federal loan discharge.
