BCSO: Jail guard posed as deputy

Brandon Bowman charged with impersonating a public servant

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County detention officer is now spending some time in jail as an inmate.
Brandon Bowman, 28, is facing a charge of impersonating a public servant after investigators said he posed as a sheriff's deputy in order to steal from people.

According to an arrest affidavit, a worker at Nails by Ben, a salon in the 3900 block of Fredericksburg, told detectives that Bowman came into the shop Tuesday dressed in his uniform.

The worker said that Bowman told her he was conducting a kidnapping investigation and then began photographing some personal items and placing them into a paper bag, the affidavit stated.

The items included two wallets, a cell phone, a web camera and $300 in cash.

The affidavit stated that investigators questioned Bowman about the incident, which he admitted to taking part in.

Sheriff's officials said because he was a jailer, Bowman was not authorized to conduct criminal investigations.
