The 38-year-old woman told police she was sitting in her car on a break from work, in the parking lot of Wamart in the 7200 block of SW Loop 410 on Aug. 16, when two men approached her and asked for money for gas.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, she told them men she didn't have any cash, then noticed one of them was holding a gun to her side.
The woman told police the gunman took her wallet, cell phone, pepper spray and walkie talkie that she uses for work, the affidavit stated.
Investigators said they soon realized the two robbers fit the description of those involved in another crime about 30 minutes prior to that one, the affidavit stated.
In that case, a man told officers a similar story, but said that the robbers took his hat.
Police said the man also recognized one of the suspects as someone he knew from school.
The affidavit stated that he gave the name of that suspect to investigators and they tracked him down.
While interviewing that suspect, detectives said he identified Escobedo as the gunman, the affidavit stated.
Police later showed a picture of Escobedo to the Walmart worker and she identified him as the man who robbed her, the affidavit stated.
