Bexar deputies nab man wanted in apartment slaying

Alberto Delatorre is accused of shooting, killing Matthew Winkleman

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Wednesday night who was wanted in the Feb. 12 shooting death of Matthew Winkleman.

Alberto Delatorre is accused of taking part in the slaying of Winkleman in the parking lot of the Whispering Heights apartments in the 200 block of Rainbow Street.

Detectives said Delatorre along with Rodney Walker, currently being held in the Bexar County Jail, got into a domestic dispute with Winkleman when shots were fired.

According to an arrest affidavit, Walker was suspected of calling the shots in the slaying and signaling another man to actually fire the fatal shots at the victim.

Deputies arrested Delatorre at a home in the 5900 block of Fox Canyon without incident.
