SAN ANTONIO - Growing from the bottom up, well almost. A local tech company is expanding as the need for more space grows.

Geekdom, a co-working space where entrepreneurs help each other, is expanding its facility in downtown San Antonio.

The basement level will soon be under construction, to provide classroom and meeting spaces for educational, and training opportunities for members. It will also create a new podcast studio.

"You get to meet people just like you who are entrepreneurs and are looking to start something new,” David Garcia, COO Geekdom said. “We have great workshops and events that happen at Geekdom. So it’s a great community where people give back.”

Geekdom opened its offices on the 11th floor of the Weston Center in Nov. 2011. It eventually expanded to two floors. A few years later, the company moved into the Rand building, where it occupies three floors. The company started with 10 members and has grown to more than 1,500.

New members are excited to use the new space.

“They give great feedback," Kevin Clack said. "They have a lot of programs to help small businesses.”

The remodeling project will cost more than $100,000 and construction is expected to begin next month.
