Mitchell Lake Audubon Center is excited to bring back Migratory Bird Fest as we celebrate spring migration with a free, family-friendly community festival. This annual event will take place on Saturday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is a free community festival filled with animal ambassador friends, birdhouse-building with Home Depot, games, crafts, vendors, a native plant sale by Pollinatives, food trucks, nature walks, and golf cart tours of the wetland areas. A live bird show by raptor rescue Last Chance Forever will occur at 11:30 a.m.

“Our mission to connect people to nature is more important now than ever before,” center Director Sara Pruneda Beesley said. “San Antonio is a city on the rise, and spending time outdoors—in our natural green spaces—keeps people connected to something bigger. Migratory Bird Fest is an opportunity to explore the outdoors and learn how to be a sustainable, bird-friendly community through everyday actions and birds.” Over 25 vendors and partners will be there this year, including Pollinatives Plant Sale, Bat Conservation International, The Witte Museum, Greenspace Alliance South TX, Corks, Pebbles & More, Fauna Silvestre Studio, Kenedy Horned Toad Club Bexar County Master Gardeners, Little Songbirds LLC, Morawski Fine Art and many more.

Migratory Bird Fest is presented in partnership with the Bexar Audubon Society and is included in San Antonio’s certification as a Bird City Texas. All proceeds from this event support the mission to connect people to nature and protect the places that birds — and humans — need today and tomorrow. We can keep our community festival and select programs free to the public with support from the San Antonio River Authority, Texas A&M University–San Antonio, H-E-B, SouthStar Communities, Bexar Audubon Society, Pollinatives, the City of San Antonio – Office of Sustainability, San Antonio Audubon Society, and Live From the Southside.
