HOUSTON – Many vendors were crushed by the cancelation of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This is the first shutdown of the Houston Rodeo in its nearly 90-year history. Vendors will have a surplus of products, as the rodeo was only a few days in. HOUSTON – The stars of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo are looking for work after the historic cancelation cost them paychecks, time and world standings. “A cancellation of one this magnitude is kinda devastating,” said rider Aaron Williams, who won the top prize Tuesday night. “Now we’re not going to be able to go to rodeos that we could have but we didn’t enter because of Houston,” Williams said. On Thursday, Breding, Williams and other riders will pack up and look for another rodeo. The Austin Rodeo had not been canceled as of Wednesday night.

HOUSTON – A few thousand people have signed an online petition calling for the cancellation of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo amid the coronavirus outbreak. Dubbed as the largest rodeo in the world, Houston Rodeo attracts millions of people to NRG Park. However, attendance is down compared to previous years, according to the Houston Rodeo data. Despite rising concerns of the coronavirus, Houston Rodeo and local officials said there are no such plans to cancel the festival at this time. “We are continuing to monitor the situation and collaborate daily with Harris County and City of Houston officials, and the Houston Health Department.”

HOUSTON – Houston Rodeo officials released most of this years’ star-studded line up in January but kept people guessing by withholding the Friday night performances. The remaining performances will be announced incrementally on Tuesday at three different Houston-area high schools. Houston rapper Bun B made the first announcement around 7:30 a.m. at Alief ISD’s Elsik High School. Rodeo officials announced that Houston’s own Lizzo will be performing for the first time at the Houston Rodeo on March 13, which is Black Heritage Day. The Rodeo has confirmed is that the March 6 performer will be Hip/Hop and R&B, the March 13 performer will be Lizzo and the March 20 performer will be EDM.

The majority of the lineup for this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was released Thursday and it includes big names in country and pop. The rodeo will run from March 3-22, just weeks after the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, which runs Feb. 6-23. Here in the Alamo City, Cody Johnson, Midland, Chris Young and Brad Paisley will also play for the San Antonio rodeo.
