It appears the ink on a South side man's body helped police seal the deal, naming him as a suspect in an armed robbery.
Police said a tipster who called their Crime Stoppers line was able to describe the suspect's tattoos in detail, helping them make a positive identification on him.
Police arrested Edward Ramos Martinez, Jr., 40, Monday on a charge of aggravated robbery, an arrest affidavit stated.
Police believe he is the man who walked into Walmart on Jones Maltsberger Road on Feb. 29 and walked out with an armful of electronics.
An employee told police he tried to stop the man, but he lifted up his shirt and showed the worker a gun in his waistband, the affidavit stated.
The robber was captured by a store surveillance camera and police released the image to local news media.
A tipster who saw the photo on TV called police, identifying the suspect by name and describing his tattoos, which were not visible in the photos, the affidavit stated.
Police said they were already looking at Ramos-Martinez in connection with similar cases.
