SAN ANTONIO – The Daily Bread Ministries is in the process of feeding more people more than just food.
The ministry distributes food to churches around the area who in turn help out their communities.
Since the city decided to purchase the building that currently houses the Daily Bread, they went looking for a new location -- and found a huge one.
The nonprofit is in the process of purchasing the old Lacks Furniture warehouse on Rittiman Road. The abandoned building is 163,000-square-feet with some 20,000 feet of meeting and office space.
"We call this our miracle building," said Seth Kuehn, founder and president of Daily Bread Ministries.
Kuehn said they can now do things they had only dreamed about in the past.
For one thing, he will sublet office space to other nonprofits so they can pool their resources.
"With groups of us working together in harmony and unity, we can make significant change in our community," he said.
Kuehn would like to have a tenant that works with kids. He said he would start an after school program and with all the space, he could even have athletic programs after school.
There is also space for an event center where conventions and seminars could take place, they could also have training space.
There is also room for a charter school, something close to Kuehn's heart since he has a masters degree in education.
"(The building) opens up for us a plethora of opportunities we haven't even thought of yet," he said.
