A total of 50 votes separated Nico LaHood and Therese Huntzinger in the close race for the Democratic nomination for Bexar County district attorney.
Huntzinger said she isn't ready to bow out just yet, pointing out that next Monday is the deadline for mail-in ballots for people living overseas.
"I went into last night with just no number expectations or how close it was going to be," said LaHood "Whether you win by one vote or 10,000 votes it's still a win and you move on to the general election."
If the results do stay the same, incumbent Susan Reed would be up against a familiar opponent in LaHood.
"I am delighted to once again be the party's nominee for this position to be the top local vote-getter of all the candidates here in Bexar County," said Reed.
LaHood said he would like to invite Reed to have an open dialog.
"All I'm asking Ms. Reed to do is engage in that conversation with me. Forget the political soundbites, the mudslinging. If she wants to do that, she can do that side-by-side with me so we can have an open conversation for the citizens of Bexar County so they can make an educated decision."
Reed was critical of both Democratic candidates.
"You had a spilt with someone with a DWI and someone with a drug-dealing past," Reed said. "There it is."
Huntzinger declined to be interviewed for this story.
