NEISD bus rear-ended by car on far North Side

Crash occurred just before 7 a.m. near Battle Oak, Huebner Road

SAN ANTONIO – A North East Independent School District bus was rear-ended by a vehicle early Monday morning.

The crash occurred just before 7 a.m. near Battle Oak and Huebner Road, not far from Stone Oak Parkway.

According to police, the school bus was pulling out of the neighborhood when the car attempted to go around.

Police said the car crashed into the back of the bus, injuring the driver. Authorities say no children were injured in the crash, but that the driver of the car was put into an ambulance.

Roughly 30 children, ages five and six, were on the bus at the time of the accident. They were transferred to another bus, and taken to Stone Oak Elementary, officials said.

The female driver of the car was stuck inside her vehicle as a result of the crash. First responders had to cut through the top to get her out, officials said. At last check, she is listed in critical condition.
