Man arrested after $500K worth of drugs found inside home, San Antonio police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man was arrested after officers found $500,000 worth of drugs in his home, according to San Antonio police.

Juan Vasquez, 40, was arrested Tuesday. For around two months, detectives said they were “surveying” Vasquez as “someone known to transport narcotics.”

Around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers conducted a traffic stop on Vasquez’s vehicle at the intersection of Basse Road and McCullough Avenue. During the stop, multiple narcotics were found in the car.

Another person in the car was wanted by authorities and arrested. Police did not provide information on the person’s arrest.

During the investigation, detectives were able to secure a search warrant for Vasquez’s home in the 100 block of Dean Street, where they found 40 to 50 kilograms of methamphetamine, over a kilogram of heroin and multiple firearms, police said.

The street value of the drugs inside the home was estimated at $500,000, police said.

Vasquez was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance PG1 over 400 grams with intent to manufacture or distribute. Federal charges are pending, police said.
