BCSO identifies human remains found by rancher in west Bexar County

The man whose remains were found in west Bexar County over the weekend has been identified as 18-year-old Anthony Xavier Luna, according to Sheriff Javier Salazar.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have released images of a bracelet found on a woman’s body in hope that the community will help identify her. Police said the woman was found on the morning of Nov. 4, outside the Rio at Mission Trails nursing home in the 6200 block of S. New Braunfels Ave. Her body, which was already decomposing, was spotted in the woods by a person visiting the nursing home. She was either Hispanic or Caucasian, was between 20 and 40 years old, and was between 5-feet, 3-inches and 5-feet, 7-inches tall, police said. Police said she was wearing the black bracelet, which has heart-shaped symbols, at the time her body was discovered.

SAN ANTONIO – A person visiting a loved one at a nursing home found some human remains Wednesday morning on the city’s Southeast Side, police said. According to Officer Doug Greene, a spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department, skeletal remains were found around 11:30 a.m. in a wooded area behind the Rio at Mission Trails nursing home. Greene said due to the composition of the remains, it’s difficult to determine a gender. Officers are canvassing the area for clues. Anyone who may have information about the case is asked to call SAPD.

This was done after human remains were found near Milam Park in downtown San Antonio near Santa Rosa and Houston Streets during an archeological investigation before the start of city street construction. A Bexar County District Court granted a petition from city officials for removal of human remains on August 14. San Antonio city officials also received approval for an exhumation permit from the Texas Historical Commission on August 24. BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A man walking his dog found some human remains Tuesday afternoon in south Bexar County, officials said. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said the man made the grisly discovery around 4:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Losoya Drive, near Spanish Grant, and called 911. Salazar said the remains are in such a stage of decomposition that homicide detectives can’t initially tell if the victim is a male or female. The sheriff said if anyone has information or has seen anything in the area that might help the investigation to call the Sheriff’s Office at 210-335-6000. Anyone who has a missing relative is also urged to call the same number.

Human remains discovered in downtown San Antonio park during city archeological investigation

SAN ANTONIO – Human remains have been discovered at Milam Park as part of an archaeological and cultural investigation, according to a press release from the city of San Antonio. City Archaeologist Shawn Marceaux provided the following statement in regards to the discovery:On Wednesday, May 13, the archaeological investigation for the Santa Rosa Street 2017 bond project identified what are likely human burial remains. The Office of Historic Preservation City Archaeologists were first notified by the Principal Archaeologist for Pape-Dawson Wednesday morning. City, state, and project officials, and local descendant groups, were notified of the discovery per requirements in the Texas Antiquities Permit and Human Burial Remains Protocol. “The Cultural Investigation was built into the Bond Project timeline at a cost of $270,000.00 for the archaeological work,” city spokesperson Joe Conger told KSAT via email.

Body burned beyond recognition found in SW Bexar County

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A body burned beyond recognition was discovered in a field Tuesday afternoon in Southwest Bexar County, Sheriff Javier Salazar said. A property owner was plowing his field in the 12000 block of Wisdom Road when he made the grisly discovery, Salazar said. The victim is that of a short adult or a large child, Salazar said. The body was so badly decomposed that a sex couldn’t be immediately determined. Salazar said if anyone saw anything suspicious in the area, call BCSO at 210-335-6070.
