VIA Metropolitan Transit on Tuesday unveiled its new VIA Link Southeast zone, expanding its app-based, on-demand ridesharing service to cover a 13.8-square-mile area on San Antonio’s Southeast Side.

Students and staff will soon have another transportation option to get to Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

The VIA Metropolitan Transit Board of Trustees has appointed Jon Gary Herrera as the agency’s new president and CEO.

VIA’s Board of Directors signed off on a round of service changes Tuesday evening, as the agency continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

People heading to Fiesta events downtown will have a new option to avoid traffic, beginning on Tuesday.
