San Antonio Zoo takes in confiscated tiger cub, bobcat

AdThis is the third tiger sighting/case in San Antonio and Bexar County in the last six weeks. โIllegal animal trafficking is a global problem, and obviously San Antonio is not immune to this,โ said San Antonio Zoo President and CEO Tim Morrow.
BCSO: Inmate dies shortly after suffering stroke at area hospital
SAN ANTONIO โ A Bexar County inmate has died shortly after suffering a stroke while in an area hospital, according to Sheriff Javier Salazar. Inmate Gerald Irey, 71, was sent to University Hospital on Feb. 8, and was then taken to a secure part of the hospital on Feb. 9, according to Sheriff Salazar. Ivey had an โaltered mental status,โ according to the BCSO and in the last couple of days, Irey suffered a stroke. Shortly after, he was then admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, according to Salazar. As of around 9:35 a.m., Sunday, Sheriff Salazar said he was notified that Irey had died at the hospital.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar fired more than 100 deputies during his first term, very few were reinstated
SAN ANTONIO โ Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar fired more than 100 deputies during his first term in office and only a handful were able to win back their jobs, records obtained by the KSAT 12 Defenders show. The termination records, which cover 2017 through the end of last year, show that 102 deputies were dismissed from the agency. Only five deputies were ever reinstated, either through civil service or a court order, the records show. The money went to a detention deputy who was fired and then reinstated in 2019. BCSO: Armed man shot, injured by deputies during shooting in far West Bexar County
BEXAR COUNTY โ Bexar County sheriffโs deputies fired gunshots at a shooting suspect, injuring him, before he was arrested in far West Bexar County, according to the sheriffโs office. Deputies were initially dispatched to the area for a report of a 38-year-old man shooting out a window of his house. Upon arrival, the man was found near his residence, either in the garage or front yard, armed with two handguns, one in each hand, according to Sheriff Salazar. Sheriff Salazar said the man then directed his vehicle toward a deputy, and that deputy fired gunshots at the man driving the car. No deputies were injured in the incident, but the suspect was injured in the arm and leg.
BCSO: Human remains found in SE Bexar County believed to be woman, several persons of interest connected to case
SAN ANTONIO โ Bexar County sheriffโs deputies have identified 10 persons of interest in connection to the human remains that were found on the side of the road in Southeast Bexar County earlier this week. The sheriffโs office says the remains are believed to belong to a woman in her 30s or 40s. Homicide investigators and the street crimes unit executed a search warrant at the home late Friday and found blood evidence as well that was linked to the womanโs remains. BCSO deputies use stun gun on fellow corporal during domestic violence arrest
SAN ANTONIO An off-duty corporal with the Bexar County Sheriffs Office was tased and arrested by his fellow deputies for an alleged assault, according to the BCSO. Deputies tried to place Young in custody, but a struggle ensued and a taser was deployed, officials said. Young was employed with the sheriffs office since March of 2016 and was assigned to the Detention Bureau, according to the BCSO. After Youngs arrest, Sheriff Salazar initiated termination proceedings due to a continuing pattern of misconduct.This suspects pattern of misconduct, which culminated in last nights arrest by BCSO deputies is extremely disturbing. Hes also charged with resisting arrest, another Class A misdemeanor with bond set at $1,000.
