San Antonio to remain rain-free, as temperatures warm back up

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, residents along the Texas Coast and near Houston dealt with flooding and damage from heavy rains and powerful winds.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the Texas coast early Monday morning, causing several popular parks and attractions to temporarily close.

Tropical Storm Alberto, the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, brought decent rain to the Texas Coast.

Richie DeVillier, who owns land east of Houston, said the state owes him damages for constant flooding after Texas made changes to Interstate 10 near his property.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will reopen saltwater fishing on the coast.

The Texas State Aquarium released nine loggerhead sea turtles into the Gulf of Mexico after they were rehabilitated at its program in Corpus Christi.

The aquarium decided to relocate its sea turtle operations to the nearby 26,000-square-foot Striker Building at the Port of Corpus Christi.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Large shark catches off the Texas coast are more common than you might think. One of the most recent anglers to land a big fish is Josie Silva who caught a 9-foot tiger shark south of Bob Hall Pier in Corpus Christi on Labor Day. Silva said her shark catch was part of Texas Shark Rodeo which is a catch-photo-release team-oriented, shark-fishing tournament with an emphasis on tagging and collecting data for the conservation of sharks. “Our team is the Team 3rd Coast Beach Bums. The rod I used I made myself the week before,” Silva said.
