The high-profile murder case against Brad Simpson may face new complications after his defense team accused the Olmos Park police chief of mishandling evidence and violating a gag order.

Authorities have entered the third day of searching a landfill in southeast Bexar County for Suzanne Clark Simpson, an Olmos Park mother who disappeared over a week ago.

Brad Simpson is facing a federal charge for illegally owning a firearm, according to court records obtained by KSAT Investigates on Tuesday evening.

Brad Simpson’s bond reduction hearing for Tuesday morning has been canceled due to a federal detainer, or hold, that was placed on Simpson last week, KSAT confirmed Monday.

Federal authorities on Friday placed a hold on the husband of an Olmos Park woman missing since early this week, adding another obstacle to Brad Simpson possibly being released from jail.

The husband of a missing woman out of Olmos Park was arrested on family violence charges. Survivors of domestic violence said this case should spark a bigger conversation in San Antonio.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said Brad Simpson, 53, is facing a multi-million dollar bond in connection with family violence charges.

Multiple agencies are searching for a woman who has been missing since Sunday.

CONVERSE, Texas – The Converse police chief is stepping down from his role. Fidel Villegas submitted his resignation this week. He has been with the city since April 2016. The city manager confirmed his last day on the force will be Jan. 17. Assistant Police Chief Pam Hunt will then serve as interim chief as the search to fill Villegas’ replacement gets underway.
