New San Antonio brunch spot, easy summer grilling recipe, crafts for the kids, head start on Halloween & coffee celebration

PJ's Coffee of New Orleans is celebrating its 45th birthday!

SAN ANTONIO – Today at 1 p.m., a new San Antonio brunch spot, an easy summer grilling recipe, crafts for the kids, a head start on Halloween and celebrating 45 years of coffee!

It’s a celebration at PJ’s Coffee! The New Orleans-based pick-me-up chain is turning 45, and they have special drinks to commemorate the occasion. We’re trying them today.

Jen takes us to a brunch-tastic new spot in Leon Spring. Mae Dunne draws inspiration from the home cooking traditions of family, local ingredients and a passion for gathering around the table.

Still hungry? Beef Loving Texans share an easy summer grilling recipe with us. You can find even more recipes here.

Is it too early for Halloween? The Ditzy Gypsy doesn’t think so! This local crafter is giving us a head start on the next major holiday with a DIY witchy wreath idea. It’s budget-friendly, too!

The kids will be back in school soon, but they can still enjoy arts and crafts classes at Kidcreate Studios.

Plus, there are several back-to-school giveaways and events happening around town this weekend. Here are two big ones:

  1. Vertical Church 9th Annual Back 2 School Giveaway - 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 5 at The Vertical Church at 4218 Thousand Oaks Dr. There will be free basic school supplies, dental supplies, new and gently used clothing, haircuts, immunizations and much more.
