Jailed man charged in woman’s 2003 strangling in West Texas
AUSTIN, Texas – A man has been charged in the 2003 strangling of a woman whose body was found on a rural road in West Texas, authorities said Friday. A recent alert from a DNA database led the Texas Rangers and Lubbock County sheriff's office to focus their attention on Castillo, the DPS said. Palacio's partially clothed body was found in July 2003 in southeastern Lubbock County. Carbajal was found strangled and with blunt force injuries on a rural road in northern Lubbock County. Castillo was being held Friday in McLennan County Jail on more than $1 million in bond.
Murder case of 17-year-old girl remains unsolved 26 years later
SAN ANTONIO The Texas Rangers cold case unit has dozens of unsolved cases and one of those is that of 17-year-old Samantha Zublionis. Back in August 1994, Zublionis was starting her senior year at MacArthur High School and a new job at Wendys on Nacogdoches Road and Loop 410. Charges dismissed against man accused in 2007 Universal City fatal shooting
SAN ANTONIO – Authorities have dismissed criminal charges for one of three suspects accused in the cold case killing of Blase Wright Jr., 21, in 2007. The same witness told investigators that they were contacted by Carroll before they spoke with Universal City police about the slaying. Another witness told authorities that Carroll was acting “petrified” the day following the shooting. The affidavit states Carroll told the witness that he saw Joseph Selders leaving Wright’s apartment with an Xbox, and that Joseph Selders “did some s***” the day before.

He, along with Lara Selders, 34, who was arrested Friday, are accused of killing Blase Wright Jr., 21, in February 2007 at his apartment. Witnesses identified Lara Selders, who was a potential person of interest in 2007 but was never interviewed, in a photo lineup, the affidavit states. According to the records, Lara Selders told authorities that Joseph Selders admitted to shooting Wright. She said she drove Joseph Selders and the other suspect to the robbery, according to the affidavit. Family waits for justice 13 years after loved ones murder following arrest made in case
Wright, who was 21 at the time of his death, was shot in the face in his Universal City apartment in February 2007. On Friday, Universal City police, with the help of the Texas Rangers, arrested 34-year old Lara Selders for capital murder. Universal City police Detective Anthony Travis said Selders was cooperative when they showed up to arrest her. Vollmer hopes this cold case arrest gives other families in waiting some hope. That sample matched Hudson, whose DNA was entered into the same database last summer after he was arrested for family violence in California. However, O’Connell said after the DA’s office took over providing updates, she was only given sporadic information about the case. DA officials have not said much about the case against Hudson being dismissed.
Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers make arrest in murder dating back to February 2000
GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas – Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office investigators and a Texas Ranger with the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Cold Case Program have made an arrest in a cold case involving a murder dating back to February 2000. The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office said 47-year-old Hyon Jordan Hing was arrested in Floresville on Tuesday afternoon. A grand jury issued an indictment against him for the murder of 26-year-old Juhuai Yan, who was from San Antonio. Hong is being held in the Gillespie County Jail with a $300,000 bond. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest, according to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.
