Music has a unique way of bringing people together, and at Barrera Veterans Elementary School, Mr. Juan Saldana is credited with uniting the school community through the power of music.

As the school year comes to a close, KSAT is honoring one final standout educator who has made a lasting impact in the classroom and beyond.

At Pieper High School, you can say Coach Sam Arrieta is everywhere. Whether he’s teaching construction or graphic design in the classroom or training state-ranked wrestlers before sunrise, Arrieta is always there for his students.

This month, we are recognizing Felix Lopez, the head custodian at Southwest Legacy High School. Lopez has been taking care of the school and the students in the Southwest Independent School District for almost 30 years now.

Jennifer Peña, a devoted fourth-grade teacher at Scarborough Elementary School, has been named KSAT’s Educator of the Month for her unwavering dedication to nurturing her students both academically and personally.

Wesley Bauerschlag is known on the Holmgreen Center campus as “Mr. B.” he’s also known for his hard work and dedication to the students there.

This month, we’re honoring Command Sergeant Major Ansley Harris, an Army instructor at Roosevelt High School, for the Junior ROTC Rough Rider Battalion program.

Every month during the school year, KSAT has been recognizing educators, who have been nominated by you — our viewers.

Elyssa Fields, a special education teacher at Langley Elementary School, is KSAT’s October Educator of the Month. She works with students from three to five years old.

For September, KSAT and Firstmark Credit Union are recognizing Susanna Hernandez, head custodian at Fenwick Academy, for her dedication to students on and off campus.

It is the last month of the school year, and our KSAT crews surprised the last educator for the 2023- 2024 school year.

KSAT 12’s Educator of the Month honoree for the month of April says he is proud to teach in a community that he knows and loves.
