Judge stuck at 60 home runs, Yankees beat Red Sox 5-4

Aaron Judge was held without a homer for the third straight game, keeping him at 60 for the season and one shy of Roger Maris’ American League record, and the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4.

Anthony Santander hit one of the Orioles’ five homers and drove in four runs, and Baltimore outslugged the Boston Red Sox 15-10.

The Los Angeles Angels’ losing streak reached a franchise-record 14 games when Bobby Dalbec drove in the only run with a double in the sixth inning for the Boston Red Sox in a 1-0 victory.

Angels lose 13th straight after firing Maddon; Trout injured

The Los Angeles Angels matched a franchise record with their 13th straight defeat hours after firing manager Joe Maddon, falling 6-5 to the streaking Boston Red Sox on Christian Vázquez’s go-ahead single in the 10th inning.

Arrieta rocked by Rockies, injured in Padres debut

Jake Arrieta got clobbered by Colorado and left with an injury in his Padres debut, and the Rockies beat San Diego 7-5.

Padres manager Tingler ejected from NLDS Game 1 vs LA

ARLINGTON, Texas – San Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler was ejected by home plate umpire Lance Barrett in the sixth inning of Game 1 of the NL Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers while making his sixth pitching change Tuesday night. It wasn't clear why Tingler was thrown out for the second time in his rookie season leading the Padres. Tingler was tossed while replacing reliever Garrett Richards just after the Dodgers' first hit, a double by Mookie Betts. The Padres sent a parade of relievers to the mound after Mike Clevinger left the game after throwing his second pitch of the second inning. After Tingler was ejected, the Dodgers scored four runs in the sixth to break a 1-all tie.

Padres get back Mike Clevinger, Dodgers add pitcher for NLDS

While Clevinger was among the 15 pitchers on the Padres roster released Tuesday, fellow starter Dinelson Lamet was again left off because of injury. The Dodgers added a pitcher to their roster for the NLDS, where they will have 14 pitchers and 14 position players after carrying only 13 pitchers for the first round series against Milwaukee. Right-handed reliever Dylan Floro (3-0, 2.59 ERA) was the pitcher added for the longer NLDS. The Padres last week became the first team to use eight or more pitchers in three consecutive playoff games.

Goldschmidt, Cardinals win 7-4 in Padres' return to playoffs

(AP Photo/Gregory Bull)SAN DIEGO – Given a chance to catch their breath after a crazy month and a half, the St. Louis Cardinals settled into the playoffs with yet another win against the San Diego Padres. San Diego native Tommy Edman singled and Goldschmidt homered to left. Dylan Carlson doubled, 38-year-old Yadier Molina hit an RBI single and Paul DeJong doubled before Matt Carpenter hit a sacrifice fly. Kim allowed Eric Hosmer’s sac fly in the first, Aaron Nola’s sac fly in the second and Tommy Pham’s RBI single in the third. Dexter Fowler hit an RBI single in the ninth off Trevor Rosenthal, who started his big league career with the Cardinals.

After Tyler Rogers (1-1) worked the ninth, Yastrzemski homered off Matt Strahm (0-1) in the bottom of the inning to give San Francisco the walkoff victory. RHP Kevin Gausman (0-0, 4.50) will make his first start for San Francisco.
