CBP officer ‘inadvertently’ shows pornography to Sharyland middle school students
McALLEN — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer allegedly showed a pornographic image to a group of seventh graders while giving a Red Ribbon Week presentation at Sharyland ISD on Tuesday. In a statement, CBP Public Affairs Officer Roderick Kise said the officer was using his personal phone at the time. The release also said local, state and federal law enforcement are customarily invited to campuses for Red Ribbon events, and that support services are available for students. “The student body was addressed and advised that counseling services are available should they feel the need to speak to someone,” the statement said. The Sharyland ISD Administration and its counseling team are addressing any concerns from families and are offering counseling support regarding this incident.

SAPD announces death of off-duty officer
The department announced an off-duty officer committed suicide around 7:15 a.m., Sunday, at an apartment complex on the city’s North Side. This is the third SAPD officer that has died this year. Houston officer injured in helicopter crash now serious
HOUSTON – A Houston police officer injured in a police helicopter crash that killed another officer was in serious condition Sunday at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, according to spokesperson Natasha Barrett. Chase Cormier, 35, was upgraded from critical condition following surgery after the early Saturday morning crash that police said caused fatal injuries to Officer Jason Knox, 35, the son of Houston City Council Member Mike Knox. Six people were arrested in connection with gunfire in the area about an hour after the crash, according to Acevedo. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash, along with a homicide investigation by Houston police.
