Mike is afraid of snakes, but he overcame that fear for SA Live’s 2018 Halloween special in a “Fear Factor” parody we called “Fright Factor” in the heart rattlesnake country. He visited Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo in October of 2018, where he spent 2 and a half minutes in a pit filled with North America’s largest venomous snake, the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Now, the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake is the one we find most in Texas. The Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, however, can reach 8 feet in length. What would it take for you to spend time in a pit filled with rattlesnakes?

Seventeen-foot python put up a fierce fight before being captured in Florida Everglades

Kimmel, owner of Martin County Trapping & Wildlife Rescue, had gone out into the Florida Everglades last week hoping to catch a giant Burmese python. He was definitely intimated by the snake, he said, but he isn't known as the Python Cowboy for nothing. The largest python captured in Florida was 18 feet, 8 inches long, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Now wildlife officials estimate there might be as many as 100,000 pythons living in the Everglades. He said he will also receive a payment from Florida's Python Action Team, which pays people to remove the invasive species.

Rattlesnake caught on camera swallowing rabbit whole on Texas road

SAN ANTONIO – It’s something that happens often in nature, but it’s not often caught on camera. Two men happened upon a rattlesnake eating a rabbit near Country Road 405 in Uvalde Saturday and they captured it on video. We got out and watched as the snake dragged the rabbit out of the road and under some low brush, where I was able to take the still photo,” one of the men told KSAT. If you encounter a rattlesnake, or any other kind of venomous snake, in a populated area. If you’re not squeamish, you can watch the men’s encounter with the snake in the video player above.

Snake sightings increase after rainy weather in San Antonio-area

SAN ANTONIO – Recent widespread rains in the San Antonio-area have brought an increase in snake sightings around the city, according to social media and posts on Nextdoor. The four common venomous snakes in South Texas are copperheads, cottonmouths, rattlesnakes and coral snakes. Milk snakes usually have a red head with a black, red, black and yellow pattern. Coral snake. Wash bite areas with disinfectant if it’s available and remove jewelry before swelling starts.

Family accidentally cooks snake in oven with pizza

A North Carolina family had an uninvited dinner guest on pizza night. The Wake Forest family put a pizza in the oven to bake, but when the oven started smoking, they found something completely unexpected and unsettling inside -- a seared snake. “The oven started smoking, and I told my boys to back up so I can make sure fire or anything didn’t happen. That’s a friggin’ snake.’" Amber Helm told WRAL. The family said they have no idea how the snake got in the oven.
