So, what on earth took so long for Father’s Day to be a recognized event in the United States? The federal government certainly was opposed to the official creation of Father’s Day for the longest time, despite numerous initial attempts to have a Father’s Day established. For decades, Congress rejected attempts to make Father’s Day an official holiday, but slowly, over that time, that sentiment changed as the role of fathers evolved. According to the National Retail Federation, roughly $15 billion was spent on Father’s Day in 2018. No doubt, Father’s Day has come a long way from its surprising decades of resistance.

As we all know, this Mother’s Day was quite different than most years, but that didn’t have to make it any less special. (CNN) -- As moms are being celebrated this Mother's Day, there's one mama bear that deserves a special shoutout. Firefighters with California's South Lake Tahoe Fire Fighters Association were recently dispatched to Key Marina after receiving a call about three bear cubs who had become separated from their mom. By the time they arrived on the scene, firefighters found that the mama bear had already begun to execute a daring rescue plan to reunite the family. Slowly, she encouraged each of the cubs to jump into the water, then swam them each to safety. In the video, the mama bear can be seen coaxing one of the cubs to jump into the water.

SAN ANTONIO – Three healthy puppies made their way into the world on Mother’s Day, all in San Antonio, according to San Antonio Pets Alive! The mother of the puppies, Jackie, a 1-year-old American Staffordshire blend, was first rescued by SAPA in the beginning of April. Jackie has been receiving care from her foster mom Amy ever since she was first brought in, SAPA said. 3 healthy puppies born in San Antonio, just in time for Mother’s Day (San Antonio Pets Alive!) According to SAPA, Jackie went into labor early Friday morning and delivered all three of the puppies.
