New app freezes kids' phones until they reply to parent's message

Ensures users see important messages

SAN ANTONIO – A frustrated dad created an app that freezes his son’s phone until he replies back to messages marked as important.

ReplyASAP is a messaging app that ensures your kids, or whoever you send a message to through the app, is seen.

The message will appear on the phone over whatever the user is doing and make a noise until they interact with it, even if the phone is on silent, according to the website.

A notification will be sent to the person who sent the message so that person will know the message has been read.

“There are times that I need to get a message to him and he has no way of knowing that the call or text he ignores/doesn't see is important or not, and I have no way of knowing if he has seen it,” app creator Nick Hebert said of his son.

Hebert goes on to say that the app also has had benefits for other adults who need to get important messages to each other.

Friends suggestions for the app “ranged from changing your order when your friend is getting the drinks in at the bar, to finding your phone when you've misplaced it at home, to work situations when you need to get hold of work colleagues quickly,” Hebert said.
