North East ISD librarian creates social-emotional learning section to help students amid pandemic
SAN ANTONIO โ As students continue to adjust amid the pandemic, a North East ISD librarian says social and emotional learning is still essential for students. When the school year started, Wright said she created different kits for students. Wright said that making the kits for the students led her to create a social-emotional learning section at the library. โSo, those are the things that help me to understand that thereโs a need.โWright said there is also a section for teachers with books that can help incorporate social emotional learning in the classroom. Report: Police found drugs, AK-47 in studentโs car near Madison High School
SAN ANTONIO โ James Madison High School Principal Steven Zimmerman sent a letter to parents on Nov. 18 to let them know about an off-campus incident that stemmed from a report alleging a student might have a weapon in his car. โOur administrators and NEPD officers worked in conjunction with the San Antonio Police Department to locate the weapon,โ Zimmerman wrote in the letter. The car was parked across the street from the campus near a cell phone business while the student was in class. When NEISD police made contact with the student on Nov. 18, he first told police that he was dropped off at school. โYour studentsโ safety is of the utmost importance at Madison High School,โ Zimmerman wrote in the Nov. 18 letter.
