SAN ANTONIO โ Veronica Castro and her family had just celebrated Christmas at home one day before losing most of their belongings and their pet dog in a fire. Castro said she and her husband had gone to the store while her father remained at home with her three children. โThey did something about it, and because of them, I have my family still,โ Castro said. Castro said most of their belongings, including Christmas gifts and school laptops are gone. Castro said she, her husband, and their children are staying with a relative.

San Antonio โ A West Side mother wants answers after her son was shot and killed while in a car with his friends on Aug. 15. San Antonio police said Izaiah Riojas, 20, was hit with a bullet after a group was playing with a gun and it went off. โI get a call at midnight that my son was shot and I was like what son because I have three boys,โ Castro said. Why did everyone run?โSadly, Izaiah Riojas died at the scene and police said some suspects ran off, while some stayed for questioning. โReal hard.โCastro said out of all of her boys, Izaiah Riojas was the goofy one.
