Harris sacked four times, UTSA falls to Florida Atlantic 24-3
BOCA RATON, Fla. โ Nick Tronti threw for a touchdown, ran for another and Florida Atlantic beat UTSA 24-3 on Saturday. A total of 43 players who began fall camp did not travel to Marshall, including 28 related to COVID-19. Tronti connected with Aaron Young for 27 yards and a touchdown following a Vladimir Rivas field goal for a 10-0 first-quarter lead. After Hunter Duplessis got UTSAโs only points with a 49-yard field goal, Tronti completed a nine-play, 80-yard drive with a 2-yard run to lead 17-3 at halftime. James Charles added a 2-yard touchdown run late after UTSA turned the ball over on downs at its 19-yard line.

State Reps. Trent Ashby of Lufkin and Chris Paddie of Marshall join two Democrats in seeking the gavel: Senfronia Thompson of Houston and Trey Martinez Fischer of San Antonio. Candidates are vying to replace Republican House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, who will retire after serving one term thanks to a political scandal last year. Thompson, the longest-serving woman and Black person in the history of the Texas Legislature, filed Friday to run for the gavel.
Two Conference USA games postponed because of COVID-19
Two Conference USA games scheduled for the weekend, including No. 19 Marshall at Florida International, have been postponed because of COVID-19 issues. For Marshall (5-0), this is the third time this season it has had a game postponed because of an opponent's struggles with COVID-19. The Thundering Herd did not play a nonconference game against East Carolina and a conference game against Rice in September. A total of seven Conference USA league games have been postponed.

The Latest on the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on sports around the world:___Californiaโs menโs basketball team is pausing workouts after an unidentified player tested positive for COVID-19. ___The NFL and its players' union say eight players and 11 other personnel tested positive in the latest round of screening for COVID-19. Coach Dan Mullen, at least two assistants and more than two dozen players tested positive following a road trip to Texas A&M earlier this month. FIU has seen more than 30 players miss time this season because of positive coronavirus tests or a need to quarantine after potential exposure. Last Sundayโs game between Lens and Nantes was postponed after 11 Lens players and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

22 Marshall has scheduled a Nov. 7 home football game against Massachusetts, athletic director Mike Hamrick said Monday. ___The Carolina Panthers have closed their facility for the next two days after receiving an โunconfirmedโ positive coronavirus test Monday. ___Toledo basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk has tested positive for the coronavirus, the schoolโs athletic department said Monday. Kowalczyk tested positive on Sunday and will self-isolate for 10 days, he said in a statement. Four players and three staff tested positive last week, and Wasps hasn't trained since last Wednesday for its first appearance in the final since 2017.
