Rebecca Creek Distillery prepares special drink for Super Bowl

South Texas distiller official drink of Super Bowl LI

BULVERDE, Texas – There is no sign of Moscow nor a mule, but that is not stopping Rebecca Creek from putting its own spin on the Moscow Mule. The South Texas distiller is preparing a special drink for Super Bowl LI.

“The Moscow Mule is one of the newer popular drinks out there that is served in a copper mug,” Steve Ison, founder of Rebecca Creek Distillery, said. “It is going to be called a Rebecca Mule with ginger beer, mint and Rebecca Creek Whiskey.”

It is a huge honor for the small company, founded just five years ago, Ison said. But that still is not stopping him from fighting for his company and expanding its reach.

"We are served in 99 percent of the liquor stores around Texas,” Ison said. “We are served in a lot of bars and restaurants. If they don't have it complain (and) say, 'Support local and help the little guy out.’"

The fight has been strong in Ison since the beginning, the company was the first legal distillery in South Texas in a century.

"Rebecca Creek is really special in that we use amazing ingredients,’ head distiller Brad Baldwin said. “It's made here in Texas. We use the Edwards Aquifer water to blend down our spirits."
