San Antonio Zoo celebrates hatching of 28 Texas horned lizards

Animal on Texas' threatened species list

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Zoo is celebrating the hatching of 28 Texas horned lizards.

Over the years, the reptile's population has been declining or disappearing in many parts of the state, so much so that it is now on Texas' threatened species list.

This is an important milestone for the survival of the species.

The animals will eventually be released into the wild.
