SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Police officers made sure local families had a merry Christmas.
Officers with the San Antonio Fear Free Environment group shared photos and stories of their Christmas day activities on their Facebook pages.
SAPD's Central SAFFE officers delivered presents to a family living in a hotel. Police said a man living in the hotel called them and said he had four kids, all of which he wouldn't be able to give Christmas gifts to after he lost his job.
Officers packed up toys donated by members of the community and stopped by the hotel to deliver them to the family.
"I'm glad we took extra toys because when we arrived there were more kids that were in need," a post from Central SAFFE said. "We gave the bags and visited for a little while. When we left the father was in tears thanking us for the help."
The Central SAFFE officers also visited a children's shelter to hand out gifts with SAPD's Blue Santa program.
On the West Side, West SAFFE officers not only brought gifts for a family who was unable to purchase a present for their son, they also brought the family barbacoa and tacos.
According to a Facebook post, someone approached Officer Marc Valero and told him there was a family that didn't have money for food, let alone Christmas presents.
With many businesses closed for Christmas day, the officers were able to buy the boy a bike and get food for the family.
