Abandoned home on West Side goes up in flames, SAFD says

Fire was called in around 3:30 a.m. in 4000 block of West Travis Street

SAN ANTONIO – It was a bad case of deja vu for San Antonio firefighters as an abandoned West Side home for the second time in recent weeks has gone up in flames.

The fire was called in around 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 4000 block of West Travis Street, not far from Northwest 24th Street.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they found a small, single-story home completely engulfed in flames. They managed to knock down the fire quickly and without incident.

Fire officials say the home is considered a total loss. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is not currently known. A fire investigation team has since been called out to determine the exact cause.

The San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department both answered the call.
