Chef Leo Davila showcases offerings at new San Antonio restaurant
SAN ANTONIO – He makes good food pretty. Chef Leo Davila’s new restaurant, Stixs & Stone on San Antonio’s Northwest Side, promises a feast for the eyes and for the stomach. It’s Davila’s first brick and mortar restaurant with the Catch the Wave team. The team serves Mexican-Asian fusion cuisine at Stixs & Stone, located at 5718b Wurzbach Rd. Holiday recipes: Roasted pork belly with acorn squash, broccolini + polenta 2 ways
Liberally season the pork belly with the spice blend. Roast marinated pork belly, skin side up, for an hour and a half. Remove pork belly from oven, set oven temperature to 450°F. At this point, you will need to watch the pork belly to ensure it does not burn. Nestle in your pork belly slices or cubes to fill in the middle gap.

click image Courtesy Sangria on the BurgWhen it comes to bao competitions, the only losers are those left hungry.Two local chefs Ceasar Zepeda of Sangria on the Burg and Teddy Liang are kicking off a new bao-making competition series at Sangria on the Burg on Monday, Sept. 23. The Bao Down competition will take place every fourth Monday of the month, with part of its proceeds to benefit Culinaria , a local nonprofit dedicated to food education and culture in San Antonio. "The competition is the main thing. We did it a month ago and I announced that I wanted to make a donation on behalf of both chefs to a cause we support," Zepeda toldtheThe Monday night event will invite guests to taste the results for themselves, offering four chef-driven rounds, with chicken, beef, pork and veggie bao, at $5 per round.The 'Bao Down' series winner will return next month for a show down against a chef Leo Davila of Catch the Wave.
