As San Antonio police continue the search for a suspect who attempted to kidnap a woman and child on the Southeast Side last weekend, a self-defense instructor in that part of town is urging women to take a class to learn to protect themselves.

Becky Hammonโs trailblazing journey from South Dakota to San Antonio Spurs
SAN ANTONIO โ The moment was years in the making and all Becky Hammon wanted to talk about was the final result of a regular-season NBA game in late December. โThe moment for me was just trying to come up with stuff to help us win the game,โ Hammon said. They see her as a leader and simply as Coach Hammon. โOne of the reasons why I decided to take the job was because I was going to inherit Becky Hammon,โ said Collen. Women empowerment group kicks off monthly meetings on South Side
What started out as celebration for International Womenโs Day last year before Covid hit, has now become the first womenโs group on the Southside of San Antonio. AdThe group originally began on Facebook to connect women in the South San Antonio area for networking and new friendships. โI started the group for women who didnโt have friends to hang out with or get business advice from. Wonderfully Wise Women (WWW) is a female empowerment group that is about supporting women of all ages, races, sizes, styles, and sexual preference for personal growth and networking for business. HBO Max documentary to focus on U.S. Womenโs soccer team, equal pay lawsuits

The national team has been in a legal battle with U.S. Soccer for a couple years now, fighting for equal compensation. The women claim that the menโs national team makes more money than they do. San Antonio โ A South Texas woman has dedicated her life to helping veterans overcome Posttraumatic Stress Disorder by training shelter dogs to become service animals. Our job is to train a dog to alleviate those symptoms.โAdShe said they look for five things in a potential service dog. โThe thing with shelter dogs is that they have a shelter way of being,โ Jenkins said. โThe main obstacle is the misinformation and education lacking for service dogs and service dog training,โ Jenkins said. Undocumented mothers say they left violence; now fearing deportation
BROWNSVILLE, Texas โ The stories of two undocumented mothers from separate countries may be different, but the constant emotion of living in fear is the same. She said the violence in her hometown has continued with her niece and cousin recently being kidnapped. โMe procupa que me separen de mis hijas (I'm worried about being separated from my daughters),โ Heidi said. Heidi said she left her country to not only escape the violence but also poverty. โQue dios no los abandone (May God not abandon them).โAdAccording to the Center for Immigration Studies, the undocumented population was 10.8 million in 2016.
