SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: The four victims injured in the shooting at South Park Mall were together and were the intended targets. It was not a random shooting, according to the San Antonio Police Department. A spokesperson with SAPD said no further information will be released.

ORIGINAL STORY: Four people were taken to the hospital after they were shot at South Park Mall on the city’s South Side on Wednesday night, San Antonio police said.

According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, officers responded just before 9 p.m. after three men and a woman were shot. The victim’s ages range from 17 to 41.

“It was barely inside the mall. There’s a shallow breezeway on the entrance to the mall. It happened just inside that breezeway, when the victims were just about to exit the inside of the mall,” McManus said.

McManus said the victims are all in stable condition, with the most critical having been shot in the abdomen. They were all together when the shooting happened.

"As far as a motive goes, we simply don’t know what it is right now, McManus said. He said it is also not exactly clear from where the shooting occurred.

“There are shell casings all over the place. We are just not entirely certain. We do believe there were some shots from inside the car, and there were some reports that shots were fired outside the car."
