San Antonio-area families seeking relief from the Texas heat will have more opportunities to dive into summer fun later this month.

According to the USGS, the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers experienced significant spikes in water levels following major rainfall throughout the area, contributing to what some New Braunfels locals described as a challenging start to the summer season.

This Memorial Day Weekend, thousands of volunteers from around San Antonio gathered early Sunday morning at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery to plant flags at every gravestone on site.

Good rainfall fell overnight across the Hill Country, San Antonio.

Memorial Day will be here soon, and some places are honoring veterans with special deals.

The city of New Braunfels is preparing for an uptick of visitors taking to the Comal and Guadalupe rivers as the Memorial Day weekend approaches.

The event had already been heavily promoted on social media and large crowds still descended on the city bringing chaos in their wake. Aerial videos of the large crowd show people tightly packed together with no social distancing practices apparent. In Texas, four parks in Travis County closed after reaching capacity, according to CNN affiliate KEYE. In Playa Del Rey, California, the beach wasn't packed but cyclists made good use of the path with masks to boot.
