The news comes a day after the NHL had a season-low four players in the COVID-19 protocol. AdTuesday night’s game will be the first game with fans in attendance at PPG Paints Arena since last March.

Aaliyah Wilson scored 17 points and N’dea Jones added 16 to lead Texas A&M to a 65-57 win over fifth-ranked South Carolina to give the Aggies their first regular-season Southeastern Conference title. The 2020 college football season is officially at a crossroads. Per an ESPN report, Big 10 officials voiced their intent to vote in favor of postponing fall sports to this spring. This uncertainty comes a day after the Mid-Athletic Conference officially postponed its fall sports seasons to the spring, becoming the first Division I FBS conference to do so. But while conference officials appear to be leaning towards postponement or cancellation, college football players have organized a national movement on social media. Their message is simple: We all want to play football this season.While prominent programs and big-name players remain at odds with each other over the status of the season, smaller conferences like Conference USA are left in limbo.
Texas State football reschedules game against SMU
SAN MARCOS While several college football conferences like the SEC and the Pac-12 have canceled their non-conference schedules outright, Texas State has decided to buck the trend. On Monday afternoon, Bobcats athletic director Larry Teis announced that the date for the programs home game against the SMU Mustangs had been moved up by a week to Saturday, Aug. 29. The game had originally been scheduled for the following Saturday, Sept. 5. Texas State is still scheduled to face UTSA in San Marcos on Sept. 12. Aside from the benefit of creating another bye week, Texas State is using the move to give themselves more scheduling flexibility in case the coronavirus pandemic forces them to restructure their schedule late in the season.
UTSA to miss out on $1.4 million payday
SAN ANTONIO UTSA football was scheduled to open the 2020 college football season at defending national champion LSU, but that game is now off. Today, the Southeastern Conference moved to a 10-game conference-only football schedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Roadrunners, who play in Conference USA, were slated to make $1.4 million for opening the season at LSU on Sept. 5 in Baton Rouge, La. Losing that kind of money is a tough blow for UTSA and the entire athletic program. UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos released a statement addressing the scheduling changes on Thursday evening, Earlier today, we became aware of the SECs decision to implement a conference-only football schedule for its member schools this season.
Letter: Criminal investigations hampered by deportations, detentions
AUSTIN – Texas Observer reporter Jason Buch has obtained a letter signed by 19 special agents in charge of Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI, asking Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen to split off HSI to avoid confusion with Enforcement and Removal Operations, or ERO. The letter describes the perception that HSI has the same mission as ERO, which oversees rounding up undocumented immigrants for deportation. HSI is the criminal investigations arm of ICE.
