While many celebrated Easter with their families on Sunday, several business owners on the East Side decided to give back to the community by hosting a big Easter bash.
This was the sixth year the business owners hosted the community-wide bash, where everyone was invited.
Wesley Prince, who owns Prince's Used Cars and is one of the organizers, said despite recent violence in the neighborhood, it's one way to bring the community together and to make sure the kids have a great time.
"It's a time to let the community know that we are out here and we're trying," Prince said.
More than 1,000 people showed up to enjoy the free food, music and games.
However, the highlight of the event for many, especially the kids, was the bike giveaway.
Sponsors gave away more than a hundred bikes, which were all donated.
Taylor Cook said she was very surprised to hear her name called in the drawing and that she couldn't wait to ride her bike around.
"I like it," Taylor said. "I think it's really nice."
Taylor's father, James Cook, said he is glad that his daughter won.
"That's beautiful you know, these kids need it in this community," he said. "And, it's nice to have a bike."
Tammy Prince, with Prince's Used Cars, said they see more people every year.
"It's something to bring everyone together and that's what it's all about."
