4 juveniles in custody after rolling gun battle, chase

Suspects arrested in San Antonio after Kirby incident

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested four juveniles who they say were involved in a rolling gun battle with people in another car, then led Kirby police on a chase.

The incident began around 9 p.m. Wednesday when officers in Kirby noticed the shootout and began chasing the vehicles involved.

San Antonio police say those officers eventually had to call off the chase, but a SAPD helicopter continued to follow at least one of the cars involved.

They say the four juveniles from that vehicle climbed out and tried to hide in a West Side neighborhood not far from St. Mary’s University, in the 200 block of Loma Park.

A neighbor who noticed one of them in his backyard fired warning shots at the ground.

Police also deployed a drone at one point and sent in a K9 officer to flush out the suspects.

One man did come out at that point, but officers had to go in and get the others, police say.

They finally arrested all four suspects around 1 a.m. Thursday on charges including evading arrest.

It appears the people in the other vehicle that was involved in the original gun battle got away.
