Suspended SAPD officer to be reinstated

Joe Salvaggio cleared of violating department rules on testing

The Supreme Court of Texas has ruled that a San Antonio police lieutenant who was suspended indefinitely must be reinstated.

In 2010, Joe Salvaggio was accused of removing test materials during a promotion exam.

After Salvaggio fought the allegations, a citizens board recommended dropping the charges and the arbitrator ruled the city did not prove a violation occurred.

On Friday, the state's Supreme Court denied the city's petition for review, meaning Salvaggio could be due back pay for the entire time of his suspension and most likely will be promoted to captain.
