Big Heroes Autism Fun Run and Walk Saturday in Laguna Vista

Registration continues for Saturday’s Second Annual Big Heroes Autism Fun Run and Walk, which is from 8-11 a.m. starting at Roloff Park in Laguna Vista. Entry fees are $25 for the 10K run, $20 for the 5K run and 5K walk, and $15 for adult participants the one-mile fun run. The first 100 kids who register for the one-mile fun run will receive a free HERO cape. All proceeds benefit the Big Heroes Inc., which provides post-high school learning experiences to young adults with disabilities. Packet pickup is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Big Heroes, 814 Boca Chica Blvd., and 5-7 p.m. Friday at Laguna Vista City Hall, 122 Fernandez St.

Foundation hosting inaugural 5K in honor of San Antonio teen who battled cancer

Tom Reel /Staff photographerAn upcoming 5K will not only give San Antonians an opportunity to not only get in a bout of exercise, but also remember a local teen who lost his battle to cancer last year. The inaugural 5K, to be held on Saturday, July 24, is the latest way the Bryce Strong Foundation is honoring the life of Bryce Wisdom. The Judson High School student touched the lives of San Antonians in his fight against kidney cancer. Wisdom passed away in July 2020 at the age of 17.

9-Year-Old Signs Up for 5K Race ... and Wins First Place in the 10K Race

A Minnesota mom was worried his son wouldnt finish the 5K race, but the 9-year-old boy surprised everyone and instead came in first place in the 10K race. It has never been on our radar, his mom Heather Boedigheimer-Lovell told InsideEdition.com. The 10K race happened simultaneously, and runners for both groups started together. He came in first place, completing the 10K in about 48 minutes, with the next fastest runner coming in a full minute behind. I have never seen him so red after a race, his mom said.
