(AP Photo/Brynn Anderson)FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms Monday with former Atlanta coach Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator, turning over a unit that was among the worst in franchise history to someone who built his reputation on defense in Seattle. The Cowboys switched to the 4-3 in 2013 when Rod Marinelli joined the staff and eventually became defensive coordinator. Quinn was hired in Atlanta in 2015 after two seasons as Seattle’s defensive coordinator. He was Florida’s defensive coordinator for two seasons before joining the Seahawks. Quinn was the defensive line coach in Seattle for two years before going to Florida.
Cowboys take NFC’s worst record into final quarter of season
The Dallas Cowboys have the worst record in the NFC going into the final quarter of the season, and they aren’t eliminated from the playoffs only because they play in the NFL’s worst division. The fourth quarter of the season is upon us and our goal is to finish strong. Dallas is guaranteed to have a losing record in McCarthy's first season after finishing below .500 just once in Garrett's nine full seasons. Dallas is giving up 168 yards rushing per game, second in franchise history to the inaugural — and winless — 1960 team. KEY NUMBER300.5 — The average number of yards rushing the Cowboys have allowed in demoralizing losses to Cleveland and Baltimore.

Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant has provided depth and experience at wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens following his return from a two-year hiatus. An outbreak of COVID-19 among the Ravens pushed the Pittsburgh game back six days and forced the NFL to move the Dallas-Baltimore game from last Thursday. “Dez is an eternal light of positiveness for our game," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. Dallas came into Week 13 ranked last in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing an average of 156.4 yards per game. 88, the same number Bryant sported with Dallas.

Tarrant County reported a pandemic high of more than 2100 new cases and nearly 800 hospitalizations Wednesday, the same day Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price tested positive for COVID-19. Price’s husband had tested positive for the virus just hours earlier. Public health officials are alarmed at the trends. On Tuesday, Vinny Taneja, the county’s public health director, issued a “public health warning” asking residents to help flatten the curve. In August, during the county’s previous peak, more than 4,000 residents tested positive per week.
Cowboys QB Dalton returns from concussion, COVID-19 setbacks
FRISCO, Texas – Dallas quarterback Andy Dalton has been cleared for practice after getting through the protocols for a concussion and COVID-19. Coach Mike McCarthy said Dalton participated in an informal practice Monday, the first day back for the Cowboys coming off their open week. Dalton was expected to be cleared from that when the 10th-year player was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list Nov. 2. The setbacks with Dalton, who replaced injured star Dak Prescott, led to the Cowboys starting four different quarterbacks in a span of five weeks.

Cowboys try many tricks with rookie QB, fall to Eagles 23-9
The Dallas Cowboys tried to fake their way through rookie quarterback Ben DiNucci’s first — and they’re thinking only — start. The Cowboys (2-6) started a third quarterback in the same year for the first time since 2015. This was a much more unconventional look than when Dallas was trying to save a season wrecked by Tony Romo's collarbone injury. A reverse to rookie receiver CeeDee Lamb picked up 19 yards on the game's first possession, which ended with the first of Greg Zuerlein's three field goals and a 3-0 lead. 1 offense at the time, the Cowboys have one touchdown — in garbage time of a 38-10 loss to Arizona.

The rush of well wishes on social media was even faster during what ended up being a 37-34 victory for the Cowboys over the winless New York Giants. Former Dallas quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman and reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City were among them.
