The Guadalupe County Attorney this week dismissed felony cases against five defendants after evidence in each of the criminal matters was improperly destroyed by the Schertz Police Department, court records obtained by KSAT Investigates show.

AdAleman is accused of coercing a teenager into engaging in sexually explicit conduct between mid-April and late August 2019, according to his federal indictment. He is also accused of possessing a portable hard drive that contained child pornography, records show. A continuance in the case was granted earlier this week, pushing Alemanโs tentative trial date to May 10, federal court records show.

Man found dead in vehicle from gunshot wound in Schertz, police say
SCHERTZ, Texas โ A man in his 20s was found dead in his vehicle from a gunshot wound following a shooting in Schertz, according to the Schertz Police Department. The shooting happened around 6:36 p.m., Friday, in the 1000 block of Elbel Road at the Sycamore Creed Apartments. Police said officers found the deceased man in a gray sedan with a gunshot wound. A witness told police they saw a man fleeing the scene on foot, wearing a black hoodie and red shorts. Anyone with more information on the incident is urged to contact Schertz police at 210-243-8159.
Prosecutors dismiss invasive recording charge against ex-Schertz police corporal as focus shifts to federal case

Aleman was removed as a corporal from the Schertz Police Department in January 2020, the same day he was arrested on the invasive recording charge. SCHERTZ, Texas โ The Schertz Police Department is raising awareness about the use of bumper stickers and decals to encourage residents to better protect their personal information. Anna Kraft, the special project officer for Schertz PD, said the department has seen bumper stickers that could give too much information to criminals. โSome people may think it is harmless and that it is just a bumper sticker, but some criminals may actually take advantage of that,โ Kraft said. โWe just want to bring the awareness so people can watch for their surroundings and watch what they are giving to the public. โEverybody deserves to be proud and show your proudness of their families and kids, what their husband or wife does,โ Kraft said.

The driver of the Volkswagen was outside of her vehicle, near the front, when the crash happened. Another crash happened as a result of the Nissan striking the Volkswagen, according to police.

Ricardo Aleman, 42, was arrested on the federal charges Nov. 23 and was arraigned in U.S. District Court Wednesday afternoon, according to court records. He is accused of coercing a teenager into engaging in sexually explicit conduct between mid-April and late August last year, according to Alemanโs federal indictment. He is also accused of possessing a portable hard drive that contained child pornography, records show. Alemanโs federal paperwork did not state whether the new charges stem from the Rangersโ original investigation of him.

He is never late, and a co-worker told me he was outside and unconscious,โ Sabrina Brandonisio said. Those two people were Danielle Apgar, a Schertz police officer, and her husband, Joshua Apgar, a Cibolo police officer. โAnother officer got there, and we got his AED, and then EMS arrived,โ Joshua Apgar said. โI feel like they were two angels sent by God,โ Sabrina Brandonisio said.
Ex-Schertz police corporal secretly recorded teen for over a year, investigators say
Corporal Ricardo Aleman, 41, was arrested and separated from the department Jan. 17. He faces a felony charge of making an invasive visual recording, Bexar County court records show. The warrant states that Aleman installed the cameras in a Converse home using wiring in the homeโs attic. Invasive visual recording is a state jail felony charge. A SCUCISD spokesman referred questions from the Defenders to the Schertz Police Department.
14-year-old required emergency surgery after stabbing at Schertz playground, mom says
SCHERTZ, Texas โ A juvenile was stabbed during a fight Tuesday afternoon at the Schertz Playscape at 629 Westchester Drive, according to Schertz police. The Schertz Police Department received a call around 4:50 p.m. about a fight in progress at the playscape, but by the time officers arrived the fight was over. Police received a follow-up call from the parent of one of the teens saying her 14-year-old son had been stabbed at the playscape, according to a police news release. โHe had to have emergency surgery due to his intestines sticking out of his stomach,โ she said.
