Letters: Renewable energy touted
With this year’s “Invest in our Planet” Earth Day theme, it is important to highlight the vital role renewable energy plays in strengthening our economy and creating new jobs. As the operations administrator at EDP Renewables North America’s Los Mirasoles Wind Farm in the Rio GrandeValley, I can attest to the pride renewable energy workers take in powering the LoneStarState. This wind farm has helped keep our community’s businesses running and provided families with the income to keep food on their table. A sustainable future is attainable through renewable energy, and EDPR NA is proud to support this year’s Earth Day and the clean energy powering our economy. Take the women’s individual figure skating event, for example, where soap opera-style tensions from Russia’s figure skating team took center stage throughout the event.

trinitonian.comStatement by Attorney General Merrick B. Garland on Earth Day
Today, as billions of people around the world celebrate Earth Day, I want to acknowledge Department of Justice attorneys, investigators, and professional staff who work every day to advance the cause of justice by enforcing those laws. Although environmental crime and injustice can happen anywhere, communities of color, low-income communities, and tribal communities often bear the highest burden of the harm caused by environmental crime, pollution, and climate change. Earlier this week, I was proud to join EPA Administrator Michael Regan in announcing the nation’s first-ever Environmental Crime Victim Assistance Program. On this 51st Earth Day celebration, we honor our mission by advancing the cause of environmental justice.
