Dog rescued from East Side house fire

A family's dog was rescued in a house fire on the city's East Side on Tuesday afternoon, according to San Antonio Fire Department. The fire was reported on Dawson Street near East Houston Street. Fire officials said heavy flames were coming from one of the back corners of the house, and they were able to contain it quickly after arriving. Nobody was home during the fire, but firefighters rescued a dog. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
