Police: Man sells stranger's home on Craigslist

Arizona couple called police after keys to the home did not work

An Arizona man was arrested after police said he sold a stranger's home on Craigslist.

John David Seiberling, 35, has been charged with theft and fraudulent schemes, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

According to police, a couple gave Seiberling a $3,000 check as a down payment on a lease-to-own home in Golden Valley, near the Nevada state line.

When the keys to the house did not work, the couple reached out to the owner listed on the lease agreement -- a completely different person who said the home was not for sale, according to the Kingman Daily Miner.

Seiberling was arrested Sunday while loading a U-Haul trailer at the home. He remained in custody on a $5,000 bond.
