No leads in 1983 murder of SA father of 6

Richard 'Dan' Edmonson, 48, found dead by UTSA security guard

SAN ANTONIO – The case has gone cold, but San Antonio police are still asking for help to find the person who killed a father of six.

The body of Richard "Dan" Edmonson, 48, was found on Oct. 16, 1983, by a security guard for The University of Texas at San Antonio at John Peace Boulevard and Loop 1604. He had been shot multiple times in the head.

"From the evidence at the scene, it appeared that Edmonson had been shot at another location and then dumped on John Peace Boulevard," police said.

Edmonson was wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans and western-style boots.

He was a father of six. At the time of Edmonson's death, his youngest child was nine years old. His oldest child was 18.

SAPD's Cold Case Squad is still investigating the murder.
