Oven sparks fire at apartment complex on San Antonioโs North Side
A small fire was sparked by an oven at the Joseph Apartments in the 11600 block of Huebner Road on Feb. 24, 2021. SAN ANTONIO โ Residents in a North Side apartment building were evacuated Wednesday morning after a fire that sparked with an appliance spread into the walls. The fire started at the Joseph Apartments before 10 a.m. on Wednesday when a maintenance worker was trying to help a resident with a faulty oven. A fire sparked and went up the wall and into the subfloor. Firefighters arrived, evacuated the building and were able to get the fire out quickly before it got out of control.
Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by pickup truck near Medical Center, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A man trying to cross a Northwest Side street was hit by a pickup truck early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said. According to police, the man was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a pickup truck that was going westbound. Police said the injured man was taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. The female driver of the pickup truck did stop to render aid and was not hurt. Two other vehicles crashed into the pickup truck following the initial collision, but neither driver was injured, police said.
Motorcyclist shot by woman at Northwest Side apartment complex, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police are trying to find out more about a shooting at a Northwest Side apartment complex early Friday. They say the 31-year-old man was just about to leave the Tivona Apartments on his motorcycle when he was approached by a woman in the parking lot around 3 a.m. Witnesses told police the woman walked up to him, said something in Spanish, then shot him after he got off his motorcycle. Officers searched the area for the woman, who was last seen heading toward the back of the apartment complex, but they did not find her. They say theyโre not sure whether the two know each other, or why she shot him.
